How is payment setup for international accounts?

Payment is made via Deel direct deposit. Once you sign an agreement for your first engagement, you will receive an email from Deel to input your banking information...it’s all pretty smooth!

How is VAT handled?

All international talent members of our network are signed on as a 1099 contractor...but what does this mean🤔?

• A 1099 (Independent Contractor) does not have their taxes withheld from their paycheck— this means that you have to file your own income tax forms at the end of the year.

How is insurance or professional indemnity handled?

We cover 2M per occurrence when it comes to insurance. Lawyers and non lawyers are covered for any errors, omissions, or professional liability claim pertaining to any engagements on Lawtrades.

Can Lawtraders apply for roles outside of their primary country?

International talent can apply to a role that is domestic based, as most are not location-dependent. However, international opportunities are expanding and tend to be location-dependent. We encourage international talent to apply for roles that are in their timezone and legal knowledge...you will see more success this way. If you do have any questions about which roles you should be applying for, please reach out to your customer success partner.

Can I apply for U.S.-based roles if I am licensed in the U.S, but located in another country?

If you are barred in the U.S. you can apply for most of our domestic roles. Occasionally we get a request for talent to be licensed in a specific state but typically, it isn't a requirement.
