1. Setting up payout method

Lawtrades uses Zeal to manage contractor payroll, but you only need to log in to the Lawtrades app to manage payments. After signing an agreement for your first engagement, you will receive an email from Lawtrades. This email will contain instructions to complete your onboarding and add your banking information to your Lawtrades dashboard.

• When onboarding your banking information, you will be asked to:
  1. Provide tax information (including if you are joining as an individual or business)
  2. Create Zeal account
     • This will only be used during the initial onboarding
     • Going forward, you will login to your Lawtrades dashboard to manage payments
  3. Sign W-9 for Utopia Tech, LLC

2. Updating your banking information

You can edit and update your banking information directly anytime on the Lawtrades dashboard.

3. Payment schedules and deadlines for contractors

• 1099 Monthly: Hours must be submitted on a daily basis, and you receive payment once a month. For all hours submitted from the 1st to the last day of the month we process payments on the 1st day of next month at 10 AM Eastern Time (processing deadline). Please make sure to log all your missing hours by this deadline. Should the 1st of the month fall on a weekend or public holiday, we’ll process payment on the next business day. In general, payment takes about 2 business days to process, but this can vary based on your banking institution.
• 1099 Semi-Monthly: Hours must be submitted on a daily basis, and you receive payment twice a month. For all hours submitted from the 1st to the 15th day of the month we process payment on the 16th at 10 AM Eastern Time (processing deadline). For hours submitted from the 16th to the last day of the month we process payments on the 1st day of next month at 10 AM Eastern Time (processing deadline). Please make sure to log all your missing hours by this deadline. Should the 1st or the 16th of the month fall on a weekend or public holiday, we’ll process payment on the next business day. In general, payment takes about 2 business days to process, but this can vary based on your banking institution.

4. Viewing your payment history

You can view your payments directly in the Lawtrades dashboard. After you have set up your payout method, go to the Payments tab in your dashboard to check the status of your payments.
